Rec vs. Rec Plus

Did you know that Noblesville United offers both Recreational and Recreational Plus soccer programs? If your son or daughter loves playing the game for fun or is higher in ability and looking for a little bit more of a challenge, we have programs structured for both.

What is Recreational Soccer and who should sign up for it?

Recreational soccer primarily devotes itself to the enjoyment and development of soccer players without the emphasis on high-level pressure to win. The purpose of recreational soccer is to provide an opportunity for the participants to have fun, play with a sense of team and community, learn the sport, and develop life skills including a lifelong love of the game.

All practices and games will be hosted at NUSC facilities. The recreational soccer program includes new to intermediate skilled players who want to enjoy the game without as much time or intensity commitment.

The Benefits of Recreation Soccer

  • Recreational soccer provides a rich and enjoyable environment where children can be introduced to the sport in a nurturing and supportive way that allows them to learn the game, experience the game and grow to love the game
  • Low pressure, fun filled activities are essential to the development of basic skills and tactical awareness and recreational provides just that model
  • All teams are coached by a league trained volunteer
  • Guaranteed 50% playing time (1-2 practices a week and 1 match a week)

What is Rec + and who should sign up for it?

The Rec+ soccer program is an advanced division for players U-10 through U-19. Rec+ is a natural next step for players who have obtained a higher level of soccer knowledge, skills, and abilities and are wanting a more challenging soccer experience. Competition and commitment for this division is higher than that of Rec. All practices and some games will be held at NUSC facilities. Players will have one team practice and one league-wide practice, with a certified trainer, each week. The Rec+ soccer program includes intermediate to advanced players who are ready to continue to enjoy soccer but at a more intensive level.

The Benefits of Recreational Plus Soccer

  • All Rec+ coaches are volunteers, league trained and generally have a little more experience
  • Time commitment and competitiveness is greater than Rec. One to two team practice and one academy style training occur weekly
  • Rec+ is a low-cost option compared to travel soccer. ($150/session ($300/yr) vs. $1,200-$3,000/yr.
  • Evaluations are required for your player to participate in the Rec+ program. Coach evaluation occur in season for current/previous players and during the summer and winter for Fall and Spring Seasons respectively.
  • Guaranteed 50% playing time (1-2 practices a week and 1 match a week)

Player Evaluations

Starting in the Fall of 2022 NUSC will once again be performing player evaluations for our U10 – U14 Rec+ programs. A player evaluation
is required to participate in the Rec+ program. (Please note that our U16 – U19 Rec+ players are currently excluded from this requirement.)

In the event you are not able to make a league scheduled evaluation then an evaluation form must be submitted by your son or daughter’s
previous coach on their behalf. Should they not have a previous coach at NUSC then other accommodations will be considered.

Up to registration deadline for the current season: players may obtain a full refund.

After registration closes, before practices begin for the current season: a refund of 50% of fees will be refunded.

After practices have begun no refunds will be processed without special consideration by the NUSC BOD.

*To request a refund, please email info@noblesvilleunited.com and ask for a request form.

Requests

NUSC Recreational Soccer Program is geared for fun and the development of every player in the game of soccer. In an effort to stay in line with the recreational sport definition, we are limiting requests of any kind at NUSC. The definition of recreational sports is defined as “Recreational sports are those activities where the primary purpose of the activity is participation, with the related goals of improved physical fitness, fun, and social involvement often prominent. Recreational sports are usually perceived as being less stressful, both physically and mentally, on the participants.”

Parents have the option to choose 1 night a week that the player is not available. This is done at registrations. We are honoring carpool requets to the best of our ability but do have restrictions. That restriction is both participant registrations must match as to name of player for carpool. Example: Bobby lists John and John lists Bobby. That will be honored. John lists Bobby and Bobby lists Gary. that will not be honored.  Coaches will no longer be allowed to choose any player to carry over from year to year. We are allowing one Head Coach and two Assistant Coaches on each team, on which their children will play. Depending on the number of coach volunteers and needs of the team, we will adjust this on a case by case basis.

For the U6, U8, U16-U19s only, we allow one player request in an effort to keep the players on the pitch and active as long as we can. Please mark the request upon registration and follow up with an email to info@noblesvilleunited.com.

About Your Coach

Our recreational teams are coached by volunteers; most are parents of players. Persons interested in coaching should submit a coaches registration form in TeamSnap separate from their child’s player registration form.

In addition to registering in TeamSnap for NUSC, all coaches MUST be registered in GotSport for our governing body (Indiana Soccer) and maintain their risk assessment requirements. (Background Check, Heads Up and SafeSport)

Training sessions plans, coaching information, and training equipment will be made available for coaches and teams. Teams are limited to one Head Coach and two Assistant Coaches per team.

Player Evaluation Frequently Asked Questions

Why Evaluate?

We’re doing this to ensure players are registered for the appropriate program AND to ensure what teams we roster are competitively balanced.

How do I know if my son or daughter is ready for Rec+?

The Rec+ soccer program is an advanced division for players U-10 through U-19. Rec+ is a natural next step for players who have obtained a higher level of soccer knowledge, skills, and abilities and are wanting a more challenging soccer experience. Competition and commitment for this division is higher than that of Rec.

How do I know if I, as a parent, am ready for Rec+?

For starters, read up on the differences between the two programs we offer HERE.

If you’re still uncertain, please feel free to reach out to a board member and we’ll be happy to talk through your questions.

*Please note that participating in a Rec+ evaluation does not necessarily guarantee a roster spot on a Rec+ team. Multiple factors will be considered when determining what players are rostered. These include, but are
not limited to, player registration counts, number of available coaches, team player caps and player ability.

Should your son or daughter not be rostered on a Rec+ team then they will be provided the option to be rostered on a team in the Rec program.
